Bilic and his tactics
We have still had a great start to the season but its not the first time his tactics have baffled many although the players are a large part of the problem aswell.

Sakho on the wing is both a waste of his ability and also as he wants to stay forward his not going to give Jenkinson the cover needed as he is a born striker. Moses same problem but i put him down as lazy.

Kouyate for me not a holding midfield player we have seen many times him and Noble just does not work in there. It's to slow in there, no pressing.

Lanzini the shining light now without Payet but think put him back wide get him in 1 on 1 situations like the goal yesterday.

With everyone available minus payet/valencia this would be my formation/line up

Tomkins....Reid........Ogbonna.....Cresswell...

Kouyate in the Payet role? Are you mad? He's hardly David Silva is he?

Sorry thats ment to be just infront of song/Obiang driving from midfield not off the striker lol

Re: Bilic and his tactics
Zarate should be a starter in my opinion. In fact, I would seriously look back at the start of the season and have Tomkins at Right Back again. He did a good job there. Bilic has got the opportunity now to make some radical changes as yesterday's performance was dire.

Noble is suspended I believe for the WBA game, so a good opportunity to get Obiang and Song in. Sakho up front on his own.

Carroll back on the bench.

Re: Bilic and his tactics
Considering Kouyate and Noble have played together for the majority of the games we've been in this season and we've been doing well, what do you attribute this to?

We were shit yesterday, that cannot be denied, but some of the cod analysis on here is, to coin a phrase, laughable.

What tactics?

As far as I can see we try to cling on and hope for a bit of individual brilliance on the break.

Re: Bilic and his tactics
he got yesterday wrong, I don't think anyone including himself would deny it.

I don't have a problem with him trying something, he's the manager and its his job. I will have a problem if he doesn't learn from it though but I think he has/will.

Caroll was static, and too isolated ...again.

Compare his game to Harry Kane's. Is he even match fit?

Changing our system to accommodate him didn't work last season, and it wont now.

Expensive impact sub at best right now

Re: Bilic and his tactics
To me it is now clear that playing Sakho and Carroll in the same starting eleven fails to get the best out of either of them.

Our defending is worrying now that we are not scoring enough. Still there is time to work on that ready for the WBA game.

Agree with that team 100%

Ive said the same thing before Bilic came in.

If you play fullbacks like wingbacks and dont have a DM drop in to shore up the defence you will get ganked every time.

Re: Bilic and his tactics
Been banging on here for weeks that Noble/Kouyate partnership was far to weak and yesterday had been coming for a while.

We beat Arsenal and Liverpool with 3 central midfielders and need to go back to that system.

Re: Bilic and his tactics
AC has had a run of a few games to show what he can do. Yes - he scored the winner against Chelsea, bar that not much else springs to mind. The AC we have had in previous seasons (when not on the sidelines) seemed to throw himself about more attacking and defensively - I have not seen much of that this season.

Re: Bilic and his tactics
He is starting to do what BFS did with Nolan, keep playing players who are not playing well. Worrying!

Jenkinson should not play again this season unless injuries he has been that bad. Tomkins to RB and Ogbonna in as CB.

Carroll doesn't fit with our style of play as well documented on here and should be used as impact sub.

Noble too weak in midfield, should never have made him Captain? Obiang or Song must be played ahead of Noble.

Re: Bilic and his tactics
Everyone talks as if no managers ever than ours ever make mistakes.

Even Ferguson learnt by his mistakes, so let's just see if Bilic also does,

I think people are forgetting through their hatred of them, that Spurs basically just showed yesterday what spending a couple of hundred million on a squad gets you, as they are a decent outfit now with someone who looks to be an excellent manager.

Re: Bilic and his tactics
I wouldn't play Kouyate as attacking midfielder as he lacks the technical ability and has no vision. He's hardly going to unlock defences.

Sir Alf 3:03 Mon Nov 23
Re: Bilic and his tactics
The basic assumption that we would have more than 30% possession did not play out. Tottenham's strength is midfield and they have one of the best physical midfielders around in Dembele. We could not getthe ball or keep it as they pressed and closed at every opportunity. Their task was made much easier as we were essentially not matched up having one less in themiddle of the park.

Bilic did not change that all game. Ok I suppose at 2 or 3 down you have to try and push to get a goal so lets hope he can see what the problem was.

Russ of the BML 3:27 Mon Nov 23
Re: Bilic and his tactics
Kouyate is not a player for that position. In there you need someone with craft and guile. Kouyate is a beast and his best position, in my opinion, is holding. He's got a great engine so he can sit in there break up play and put his foot in and then use his energy to get up field and join the attack.

I'd like to see Kouyate improve on his timing as if he does he will get goals coming from deep into the box to get on the end of things or get the ball coming out.

For me now we have the perfect opportunity. Noble is suspended and Song is back. Play Kouyate and Song as the holders and when we attack Kouyate goes up with Song pulling the strings.

In front of them I would play:

Moses Zarate Lanzini

And then when Payet comes back he replaces Zarate and then Noble has to try and get back in front of Song or Kouyate which will be difficult. Obiang also on stand-by to replace them if need be.

I don't think we need to make things too complicated. For me Song replaces Noble and Zarate replaces Payet and the rest stays the same.
